From December 22 to 23, 2025, the 19th International Symposium on Urban Water Development & Expo of New Technologies and Equipment, as well as the 19th Urban Development and Planning Conference, were held in Guangzhou. Centered on the core themes of “Comprehensively Promote the Governance of Water Disasters, Water Resources, Water Ecology and Water Environment” and “Build a Modern People-centered City Characterized by Innovation, Livability, Beauty, Resilience, Civilization and Smartness” respectively, the two conferences brought together over 300 top domestic and foreign experts and industry leaders. The attendees included leaders from relevant national ministries and commissions such as Chen Xiangxin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, and Xing Haifeng, First-class Inspector of the Department of Urban Construction of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; more than ten academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering including Yang Huanming, Qiu Baoxing and Qu Jiuhui; as well as experts from the International Water Association (IWA). They jointly discussed cutting-edge issues in water governance and urban sustainable development.
